5.0 out of 5 stars Great TV for the Price! Very Happpy!, July 16, 2009

This review is from: Sony BRAVIA W-Series KDL-52W5100 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV (Electronics)

I received the KDL-52W5100 about 2 weeks ago. It replaced a KDL-52V5100 that I got in March, which replaced an older Sony Hi-Def LCD rear projection 1080i model (KDF-60XS955). The KDL-52V5100 was great at first, but it had a very annoying dimming problem that Sony eventually fixed with a firmware update. The problem was that the firmware update then broke the audio for me. The audio would cut out a few times a night on all HDMI inputs. Tried new cables, new Dish receiver, everything. They finally, after weeks of fighting with them, sent me another KDL-52V5100 which then had the same problem. Sony was very good about taking care of me with these issues, once I got a hold of the right person. Before that, they give you the run around and are willing to let your brand new TV sit in a repair shop for weeks while you wait for it. I will be keeping the contact names/numbers/email addresses for future reference. It’s amazing how fast your problems get addressed when you email the Vice… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous 120 Hz TV, Love it! Just Like XBR9 except for 240 Hz., December 5, 2009

This review is from: Sony BRAVIA W-Series KDL-52W5100 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV (Electronics)

Full Disclosure: I own the Sony KDL-52W5150 which is an idential TV to the KDL-52W5100.

My Sony 52 inch W5150/W5100 is a thing of beauty! The pictures are fabulous and it looks great in the living room also. My old 60 Hz Sharp 46 inch cannot compare to this TV in terms of deep blacks and motion picture quality. Its specs are identical to much more expensive XBR9 except for 240 Hz refresh rate.

First, the pictures are amazing! The blacks are so ridiculously black… my biggest pet peeve on a HDTV is the greyish black when there’s supposed to be a black background on some older TV’s. You don’t have that problem with this TV. This TV has Bravia Engine 3 (Sony’s latest video processor) and has a 120 Hz refresh rate. Inbetween those two, the motion judder that I used to see on my old Sharp TV during fast action scenes in movies or sports are gone. All I see is smoothe motion which is a thing of beauty. Once you turn off the “Vivid” colors mode, the colors look… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Beats the Samsung LN52B750 on features and response, November 1, 2009

Look.. all the top TVs from Samsung, Sony, Pana etc.. are all so close in picture quality that you will absolutely not go wrong with any of them. So what sets them apart… the extra features and how useful they are.

I was replacing my old Panasonic $5K 42″ plasma bought about 7 years back. Its going to the bed room. So I first tried the Samsung LN52B750.. amazing picture quality.. yup its better than even this Sony 52W5100 . Now, in todays age, you expect very good pic quality in every TV. So what are you looking for in the TV today, extra features, internet connectivity, ability to stream pics, video from your computer ( DLNA) , Netflix, Blockbuster connectivity for movie streaming etc. But I was very upset with the extras on the Samsung. The response on the remote was slugggggish and slooooow. I had to press some keys like 3 times before I can get it to work. I was getting pissed. I went to the store, talked to Samsung. They kept on saying, pic quality yada yada… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best 120Hz LED Bargain there is, December 30, 2010
This review is from: LG 42LE5300 42″ HD 1080p LED TV with 120Hz, 4 x HDMI and USB connectivity (Electronics)

This TV is 120Hz…the info contained in the review about 60Hz is incorrect. I bought this TV elsewhere on Black Friday and cannot be more pleased with the image and overall quality of this LG. This television litterally makes almost everything you watch on it appear to be happening right in front of you. I original bought 4 other televisions on BF (a 26″ Vizio LED, a Toshiba 40″ LCD and a Samsung 46″ LCD) and this had the best picture quality of them all…so much so that I returned the other two larger TVs. The Toshiba had a brighter picture but couldn’t match the “right there” look of the LG. The Samsung had a nice picture quality but the backlight couldn’t bring up the details as well as the LG in darker scenes, but overall it had an excellent picture. In the end though the LG won based on the eveness of the color. So to summarize…2 of these LGs and a 26″ Vizio LED later (ironically the LG remote works for this TV and vice versa – LG probably makes the panel and tuner for… Read more

Amazon Verified Purchase( What’s this?)
This review is from: LG 42LE5300 42″ HD 1080p LED TV with 120Hz, 4 x HDMI and USB connectivity (Electronics)

We searched around quite a bit for the right deal in a new HDTV. Got educated in LED vs. LCD vs. plasma.
The price of LED was much higher everywhere, though the picture is better than LCD and plasma. I like the LG brand quite a bit. We just happened to see this great deal on LG HGTV on Amazon and jumped on it. We are very happy we waited.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent LED TV!, February 9, 2011
By

This review is from: LG 42LE5300 42″ HD 1080p LED TV with 120Hz, 4 x HDMI and USB connectivity (Electronics)

This is my first LG tv purchase and I am certain it will not be my last. I picked up this TV after receiving another tv, albeit damaged, via amazon. Of course, Amazon’s customer service was phenomenal. Well, this TV has a crystal clear picture, much more colorful than my previous plasma (720p) and this may sound a little odd, but it seems as though you are in the same room with the people on tv! The sound is good – especially for a very thin led tv – but I have this hooked up to my surround sound via a digital optical audio cable. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe there is an audio out with the standard red/white audio cables. So you may want to pick up a digital optical cable if you’re picking up this tv and want to use your own surround sound system. Overall I am extremely pleased with this led LG 42″ tv and highly recommend this tv to my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Home 3D is Here!, October 10, 2010
This review is from: Samsung PN58C680 58-Inch 1080p Plasma 3D HDTV (Electronics)

Since no one has posted a review on this wonderful set, I thought I would post something to give everyone an idea about the set. Just a quick disclaimer: this TV replaces a 3 year old Sharp Aquos 37″ LCD which has performed admirably and I plan to place it in the guest bedroom.

There just isn’t much online about this particular set since it has not been widely released yet. In fact, there is really no information on this set even on the samsung site although you can look up the pn50c680 on the site to find similar specs. In short, it is a wonderful TV at a wonderful price/performance ratio which has enough features for me… I don’t really care about app support since I own both an Xbox 360 and PS3 which should have me covered on any apps that the more feature loaded TVs may include.

I’ve had this TV for roughly 5 days now and I’ve been putting it through its paces. The TV is wonderful and provides an absolutely stunning picture when properly… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best 3D TV deal around!!!, December 23, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What’s this?)
This review is from: Samsung PN58C680 58-Inch 1080p Plasma 3D HDTV (Electronics)

I was skeptical at first before purchasing this TV because it has been available for a few months without many review and a very vague product description, and other samsungs are plagued with a load buzzing noise(this TV has absolutley no BUZZ). However, I went ahead and bought it anyway, lucky me. At time of my purchase the price was $1599. The TV was delivered in 5 days with the free shipping. Also I added the Shrek 3D starter kit which ends up being free. The starter kit comes with 3 Shrek movies in 3d with a voucher for the 4th Shrek movie in 3d and 2 set of 3d glasses of course. I currently use my PS3 as my 3d blu ray player.

First off the TV has great 2d picture quality. Very vivid and bright with great color. The menu is very easy to use but also gives a lot of settings to tweak if you so desire. It has Picture in Picture as well. 4 hdmi inputs, 2 componet, and a digital optic out. You can also hook up a external hard drive to the usb port and play movies… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Option. Don’t hesitate to get your hands on one!, January 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What’s this?)
This review is from: Samsung PN58C680 58-Inch 1080p Plasma 3D HDTV (Electronics)

I have spent looks of time researching which tv would be the best option for me. I was previously looking at the Samsung PN58C7000 which is basically the next step up in the line. When I came across this option I was skeptical at first due to the limited information and customer reviews out there. It isn’t even on Samsungs site yet. After some deep research and consideration I decided to make the jump and purchase this model. I must say that I think I made the right decision. Not only is this model hundreds cheaper than the C7000 and C8000, but after some tweaking you can actually unlock the tv to think it is the C8000. It is as simple as hitting a few buttons. You can search how to do this on AVS fourms. The main difference between this model and the C8000 is the Real Black filter, but to be honest the blacks this display shows are pretty outstanding. The 3D is also fantastic. I for one can’t wait until some more 3D blu-ray’s come out. As a side note, if you convert to… Read more
